Description
This is a carved wooden comb that would have been used by ancient Egyptian for hair maintenance. The lives of ancient people can seem very far removed from our lives today, and yet seemingly uninteresting objects like hair combs serve as reminders that, despite the hundreds and thousands of years that have passed, we aren't so different. Asru might be part of a museum exhibit now, but in her own lifetime she was just a person. She had a family, an occupation and a religion she followed. She sang, brushed her hair and wore jewellery.
Thousands of years in the future, will our lives be on display in museums?
